Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, is one aspect of pratyahara yoga practice.  Although asana is the most commonly practiced stage of yoga in the West, pratyahara is another stage on the path to Samadhi (enlightment).  Pratyahara is considered a method to achieve a higher state of consciousness. The practice begins by creating a sankalpa (intention or resolve), what Joseph Campbell referred to as a “call to awakening.” Your sankalpa is used to influence and transform your life, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

*The Practice: Similar to a guided mediation, the entire practice is performed lying on your back, in Savasana. Teacher Peggy Cordero RYT200 will guide you through a Yoga Nidra practice, which includes setting a sankalpa, a rotation of consciousness through the entire body, an awareness of breath, feelings, and sensations, and a short visualization. Unlike meditation (when you remain in the waking state of consciousness and gently focus the mind; allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to come and go) in Yoga Nidra you leave the waking state, go past the dreaming state, and into yogic sleep, while remaining awake.

With practice, Yoga Nidra can be applied in many ways, such as:

  • Developing memory

  • Increasing creativity

  • Transforming poor lifestyle habits into something more positive

  • Relieving and reducing muscular, emotional, mental tension, and chronic pain

  • Cultivating mental strength

  • Resting more efficiently, and much more…

Restructure and reform your subconscious from within. Become the creator of your destiny with Yoga Nidra. This is an ALL LEVELS class, beginners are welcome.
