Discover the body in a new way…

Laura Watts, RYT200

Join Laura Watts, 200 RYT, for this Myofascial Release Workshop Series that can offer you a new toolbox to reconnect with the parts of yourself that may be compartmentalized or misunderstood.  Invite all parts of yourself to be welcome and learn how pain or discomfort in one area of the body can be connected and healed by self-massaging another area.

Learn how to use your body and Self Myofascial Release (SMFR) tools to develop new meaningful connections with yourself and discover relationships within areas of the body. Re-connect with your breath using the SMFR tools that will begin linking and releasing the muscles of breathing, for a more natural supported and relaxed posture, freer and fuller breath, and facilitate deep relaxation. Begin to uncover how a sum of motion based challenges can be supported and validated within the body from emotion based restrictions. Explore, rather than manipulate, what your body is capable of to find greater empowerment and freedom within your body. Accessible and beneficial to all levels, no prior experience needed- beginners welcome!

Session 1: Into to Myofascial Release

There are a handful of ways to invite the body to come into a restful, responsive, and healing state.  Learn about the Vagus nerve and another way to access it, for physical relaxation, to improve your breathing, and enhance your meditation/restorative practices for essential mental health care.  The more you offer conditions that saturate the body with an environment that fosters relaxation the better your adaptation to change can be.  Myofascial release/SMFR is a ticket to physiological relaxation, increased parasympathetic activity, and emboldened embodiment.

Session 2: Neck, Shoulders, and Upper Back

Do you consistently suffer from a stiff neck, achy shoulder or tight upper back?  SMFR has many of the same benefits as manual myofascial release, with the added benefit that they can be done on your own terms and at your own convenience.  Come explore the benefits of these techniques for yourself as we learn about releasing areas of restriction in the upper body and enhancing our breath practice through SMFR techniques.  This day will include learning nine different SMFR Techniques.  Learn about how you can prep the upper body for activity to move with more power and ease.  You will also learn techniques to recover faster from a strenuous upper body workout, support the healing process of scar tissue, and much needed respite from daily neck and upper body strain.

Session 3: Feet, Knees, Hips, and Low Back

Our lower body works all day long carrying us to and through all that we value.  Come and learn how to deepen your ability to take care of and support your low back, hips, knees and feet.  Build on day 1 and 2 using the SMFR techniques and with just a few balls and skilled understanding of the connections in your body, you may just find relief, improved range of motion and recovery that can be available to you anytime you need.  SMFR is a key component to both preparing the body for efficient movement and for helping the body recover afterwards. Our joints and tissues are meant to slide and glide across each other but old and new injuries or repetitive patterns of motion can reduce this free feeling in the body.  Learn how to reduce pain from trigger points and other chronic restrictions of the lower body while improving your own natural ability to heal.  Come and access relief for tired feet, achy knees, low back pain that you can take home and access daily.
